Why go to Lion's Head Lookout
Lion's Head Lookout sits on the Bruce Trail above Georgian Bay on the Bruce Peninsula, at the top of cliffs about 200 feet high. The closest trailhead is the Bruce Trail parking lot on McCurdy Drive in Lion's Head, and Narcity describes a 4 km hike from there to the lookout, past giant potholes and cave-like limestone formations. On clear days the view reaches Cape Dundas and Barrier Island to the south and White Bluff, Cape Chin and Cabot Head to the north.
The full Lion's Head Loop runs about 16 to 18 kilometres, and Explore Magazine rates it moderate to difficult over five to seven hours. The trail crosses crags and sinkholes and is marked with white blazes on the main trail and blue blazes on side trails. Paid parking reservations are required at the McCurdy Drive lot from May 15 to October 15, with overflow parking at the Lion's Head Arena on Tackabury Street.
