Why go to LUPO Italian Ristorante
LUPO sits on the second floor above Wolf Street in Banff, a room designed to feel like an open-air Italian trattoria, with mountain views from the windows and patio. The name means wolf in Italian, a nod to the street below. It belongs to the Banff Hospitality Collective, and Avenue Calgary reported that chef Justin Leboe, known for Model Milk and Pigeonhole in Calgary, leads the kitchen with an upscale take on northern Italian comfort food built on Canadian ingredients.
Pasta is made in house, from tagliatelle bolognese to ravioli with peas and mint, and pizzas bake in an oven imported from Italy. Bigger family-style plates include chicken parmigiana and a dry-aged ribeye, and the bar pours a long Italian wine list and cocktails made with Park Distillery spirits. Savour Calgary recommended the beef tartare pizzelle and the potato and raclette agnolotti, and finished with tiramisu served in a coffee cup. LUPO landed at #6 on Canada's 100 Best New Restaurants and #95 on the main list in 2023.
