Why go to Isle de Garde
Isle de Garde is a beer bar and brewery on Rue Beaubien Est in La Petite-Patrie, opened in 2014 by five longtime friends. Tastet describes a room that is usually full yet still feels like home, with owners and servers greeting regulars like family, plus a terrace it calls stunning. Brewer Olivier Dupras leads the beer side with Isaël Dagenais, a sour-beer specialist who also brews hoppy styles.
The taps lean German, Czech and English: a Weissbier, a Světlý Výčepní, a Lagerbier and a cask Bitter, across 24 draft lines plus private-import bottles. The kitchen favours local ingredients for comfort food like the Royal with Cheese burger, mac and cheese and fried chicken, with seasonal dishes added often. Organic and natural wines come at approachable prices, five by the glass, and there are cocktails and sake too. Isle de Garde placed #48 on Canada's 50 Best Bars in 2023.
