Why go to Maplestone Ranch and Retreat
Maplestone is an adults-only thermal spa on a ranch in the Lanark Highlands, just west of Ottawa and within an hour of downtown. Guests park, walk a short forest trail past maple bush and horse paddocks, and check in with a host who hands out a towel and locker.
The circuit runs from a wood-fired Finnish sauna, a dry sauna, a hydrotherapy hot tub and a wood-fired salt water hot pool to a cold plunge, cold buckets and a heated salt water pool, with hammocks, fire pits and a salt exfoliation station for rest. Numbers are capped to keep it quiet, and a two-hour Escape is $69.
