Sotto Sotto
Yorkville, Toronto
Chef Massimo Renzi's Roman-leaning Italian room on Avenue Road, open since 1993.
Why go to Sotto Sotto
Sotto Sotto has fed Yorkville since 1993. Created by Rome-born Marisa Rocca, it now fills the ground and second floors of a house on Avenue Road, with a small patio out front. BlogTO describes curtains for privacy and walls covered in photographs of Hollywood stars, and the motto on the menu is to eat well, laugh often and love much.
Chef Massimo Renzi leads a Roman-leaning kitchen, and Gambero Rosso praises the traditional technique in the pasta and risotto, especially the cacio e pepe and carbonara. Mamma Laura's meatballs and bolognese, osso buco, a Barolo-braised lamb shank and carpaccio with black truffle are menu fixtures, and the wine list mixes Italian classics with international labels. Gambero Rosso awarded Sotto Sotto two Forchette in 2026.
