Bar Henrietta

Bar Henrietta is a two-storey neighbourhood bar on Avenue Laurier Ouest in Mile End, open from late afternoon into the night. Its name and spirit come from co-owner Alexandre Baldwin's Portuguese side, and Tastet describes a room inspired by the taverns of Portugal in the 1960s: an open upper floor looking over the kitchen, the main bar and small tables downstairs, cheerfully kitschy pink and green washrooms, and a place that feels as if it has always been there.

Drinks run from classic and house cocktails to Québec beer by the glass or pitcher and private-import wines with a lean toward bubbles and magnums. Chef David Le Gloahec's small plates rotate with Portuguese touches around fixtures such as manchego popcorn, a Portuguese sandwich, grilled cheese and mimosa eggs with mujol, with molasses cookies for dessert. In summer, Tastet counts the busy terrace among the most beautiful in the city. It placed #46 on Canada's 50 Best Bars in 2024.
