Nouilles de Lan Zhou
Chinatown, Montréal
Chinatown shop pulling Lanzhou noodles by hand, led by its beef noodle soup.
Why go to Nouilles de Lan Zhou
Nouilles de Lan Zhou has been one of the busiest spots in Montreal's Chinatown since 2014, when Ming opened the first location on Boulevard Saint-Laurent. The draw is noodles pulled by hand to order in the style of Lanzhou, and Tastet notes that diners choose both the thickness of the noodle and the level of spice. The flagship is the Lanzhou beef noodle soup, with sliced beef, vegetables and cilantro in a fragrant broth, alongside braised beef tendon noodles, stir-fried noodles, a vegetarian bowl, and starters and sides. Portions are generous enough that one bowl can feed two, and the shop placed #30 on the Chinese Restaurant Awards' Elite 30 Canada list for 2025.
