Inniskillin Wines
Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON
Canada's first estate winery, licensed in 1975 and known for Vidal, Riesling and Cabernet Franc Icewine
Why go to Inniskillin Wines
Inniskillin received the first Canadian winery licence after Prohibition in 1975, becoming the nation's first estate winery. Decanter calls it a foundational estate for modern Niagara, and it helped tie the region to Icewine after winning the Grand Prix d'Honneur at VinExpo in France.
The winery at Line 3 and the Niagara Parkway offers tours and tastings of red, white and sparkling wines with the story of the estate. Its Icewines of Riesling, Vidal and Cabernet Franc are what it is still most famous for, according to Decanter, and Destination Ontario singles out the Vidal Icewine.
