Bar Volo
Church-Wellesley, Toronto
Craft beer bar with a bottle shop, run by the Morana family since 1988.
Why go to Bar Volo
Bar Volo has belonged to the Morana family since Ralph Morana opened it in 1988, and in 2019 it reopened on St. Nicholas Street, just off Yonge and Wellesley. NOW Toronto described a roomier bar with a long marble counter, tables made from repurposed barrels, church pews and dark wood, and Craft Beer & Brewing called it quirky without being chaotic.
Ralph runs it with his sons Tomas and Julian, and the family is also behind Birreria Volo, Keep6 Imports and the Cask Days festival. About two dozen taps pour Volo's own beers, brewed next door, alongside specialty beers from across Ontario, and cask ale is the highlight. Southern Italian plates are there to share, and Canada's 50 Best Bars ranked Bar Volo 30th in 2023.
