Belle Isle

Greenwood-Coxwell, Toronto

Gerrard East bar for Cantonese and Hong Kong dishes and seasonal claypot rice.

Why go to Belle Isle

Belle Isle is a Gerrard East bar from owner Zac Schwartz and the team behind Lake Inez, and BlogTO says it shares that bar's jovial energy while keeping an identity of its own. In December 2025 chefs Keith Siu, formerly of Mimi Chinese and Frilu, and Ronan Shaftoe, who has cooked in Hong Kong, took over the kitchen and turned a snack menu into full Cantonese and Hong Kong-inspired dinners.

BlogTO's favourite was cheung fun over a braised beef tendon and shank terrine with confit onions. Hamachi crudo in a mild Hong Kong curry, dan dan mian, soy sauce chicken and brûléed fried milk fill out the menu, along with seasonal claypot rice; the Chinese Restaurant Awards gave its Claypot Rice à l'Orange a Signature Dish award in 2026 and named Belle Isle a Top 50 honouree. James McCole's cocktails carry playful names, like the pizza-flavoured This Cold Pizza Is Curing My Depression.
