Scaramouche
Casa Loma, Toronto
Benvenuto Place dining room for seasonal pastas, grills and coconut cream pie.
Why go to Scaramouche
Scaramouche is reached by heading downstairs at Benvenuto Place, but the MICHELIN Guide is quick to note it is no basement: guests come for a superb view of the city skyline as much as for dinner. The kitchen has long worked in a classic French register, and the menu today celebrates seasonal ingredients and local flavours.
Current dishes include Québec duck with a crispy croquette and apricot mustard jus, seared scallops with parsnip and beluga lentils, a lemon-crumbed halibut with smoked béarnaise, and pastas such as a Sicilian lamb ragù offered in two sizes. The coconut cream pie is the house signature, with chantilly and white chocolate shavings, and whole pies can be ordered for takeout. Canada's 100 Best ranked Scaramouche 34th in 2022.
