Why go to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park sits on Capilano Road in North Vancouver, where its story starts with a cabin that Scottish civil engineer George Grant Mackay built on the canyon edge in 1888. The suspension bridge, 137 metres long and 70 metres above the Capilano River, has drawn visitors since 1889, and Time Out calls it the oldest tourist attraction in the city.

Beyond the main bridge, Treetops Adventure links old growth Douglas firs with seven suspension bridges that reach 33 metres up, and Cliffwalk follows a granite cliff above the river on narrow cantilevered walkways that run 213 metres and climb as high as 91 metres. Destination BC suggests allowing two to three hours for a visit. The park opens every day of the year, and from November 20 to January 10 it stays open until 9 p.m.
