UNCLE serves Chaoshan comfort food on Moncton Street in Steveston village, and its pork ball and pork tripe ball rice noodles won a Canada Signature Dish Award from the Chinese Restaurant Awards in 2026. The judges described handmade meatballs in two styles, tender and savoury pork balls alongside firmer, bouncier tripe balls with a deeper meaty flavour, served with flat rice noodles in a clear broth and finished with fragrant fried garlic. Nothing about the bowl is flashy, they wrote, and that is the point: good ingredients, careful preparation and regional tradition do the talking.
