Hei Hei Rice Roll is a stall in the Richmond Public Market on Westminster Highway, steaming Cantonese rice rolls to order from stone-ground rice. The sheets are pulled thin enough to stay silky while still holding their shape, and the Chinese Restaurant Awards gave its sliced fatty beef rice roll a Canada Signature Dish Award for 2026, praising tender beef against a soft, slightly chewy roll with nothing more than a drizzle of soy-based sauce. As the judges put it, the rice, the beef and the texture all have to be right, and Hei Hei gets all three. Optional add-ons include black truffle and a soft-centred egg.
